Cefalù as an open-air film set

Cefalù undisputed beauty is well known throughout the world: full of history, natural beauties, breath-taking beaches, one of the most beautiful and famous towns in Sicily. Its fame is so wide to inspire great authors for their own cinematographic sets since the early 1920s.

Many films, commercials and documentaries have been shot through the streets of this Normann town, among many include “Vacanze d’amore” where names of protagonists such as Lucia Bosè, Walter Chiari and Domenico Modugno.

In 1990 Cefalù was the perfect scenery for an international fame film: “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso” directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, who won the Academy Award for best foreign language film.

Also, this year Cefalù will take part of the set for “I Leoni di Sicilia” directed by Paolo Genovese, an Italian tv series inspired by an historical novel set in Sicilian lands.

The first town which hosted the set is Palermo followed by Cefalù, with shooting that will last throughout the month of November. Among the actors we can find famous names in the Italian cinema such as Miriam Leone, Michele Riondino e Donatella Finocchiaro.
